Shanghi Girls and 3 other down.
Sanghi Girls has been my favorite boook that I have read this year. It takes place in Shanghi China in 1937 and ends in the USA in 1957. I love historical novels and this was a very good novel and pretty easy read. I challenge Mim and Sarah and all that read this blog to read it.
I have also read I am a Stranger Here too. by Bill Bryson. It is about Bill Bryson mooving back to the USA after living in England for 20 years. The book took place in the late 1990's. It would be intresting for him to write a book now since 9/11.
Fablehaven book 3 the 3rd book in the Fablehaven Series. It was good but not my favorite of the three I have read. These books are suppose to be for 4th to 5th graders and I felt he had a little too much going on. I do like the series though and will his next 2 books to finish the series.
The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown, fun fast pace. I have read read The Davinci Code a few years ago. I haven't read Angel and Demons, I think I will.
Yes I am only a eight of the way to 100 books. I am still in for the challenge. I love to read but I admit I do not read as fast as Mim. We will see how I do the next couple of months.

Half Way There
41. Queen of Everything by Deb Caletti This book was really powerful, but pretty dark as well. It's about a girl whose father kills someone. You watch the journey of the father slowly changing. Anyway it really pulled me in, and was well-written but the subject matter was dark.
42. Something, Maybe by Elizabeth Scott. I got this with my birthday gift card since my library does not have most of her books. I really, really liked it. Keep thinking about it. It's a love story, but deeper than fluff stuff.
43. Bloom by Elizabeth Scott. She has a different way of looking at things in her love story. It's a different perspective and in some ways similar to her book The Unwritten Rule. Worth reading.
44. Stealing Heaven by Elizabeth Scott. I enjoyed this, though I didn't think I would at first. Good story about the power of choice and the ability to change.
45. Pure by Terra Elan McVoy---Interesting about purity rings, choosing to keep your virginity and the affects of sex in high school. It was heavy handed in some points, but overall a fresh take on the whole choosing to stay a virgin issue. Something I'm all for.
46. Living Hell by Catherine Jinx YA sci fi--interesting
47. The Girl Who Chased the Moon by Sarah Addison Allen I must say that I've enjoyed all of her books that I've read. She has a total of three out. And I've read them all this year, so just check out my other posts. This is by far the best. I'm currently rereading it. The writing is superb. When I read this for enjoyment it pops and it's wonderful. When I read it as a writer, I'm just swept away. It's a book that you must read. Truly must. I'd love to write as well as she does. I'm going to buy it and all of her others, and they will have a place on my bookshelves.
48. Wild Magic by Tamora Pierce--I enjoyed it and have got her other books on hold for me at the library. YA fantasy, similar feel to Robin McKinley--so Sarah you may like her a lot. She has several quartets so be sure to look her op before you check out a book
49. Rules of Attraction by Simone Elkeles Totally good. So I really like her books, and you should check it out. Quick read about a boy who is trying to leave his past behind and a girl who loves despite the fact that he is dangerous and believes that he can change.
50. The Reckoning by Kelly Armstrong This is the third book in the trilogy. I enjoyed--the love triangle totally went the way I wanted it to, but I don't think I said what way I thought was, so I'm sure I'm not spoiling it for everyone. While things were semi-resolved they weren't totally in the series, and I was a bit disappointed in the ending. But overall I love the world that ARmstrong has created, since her adult books overlap the YA books in the fact that they both take place in the same world. In the book it mentions that she is doing a new YA trilogy, so that's exciting!

Some More Books
33. Hard to Get by Emma Carlson Berne fun ro-com by Simon Pulse--very escapist
34. 12 Dates of Christmas--Catherine Hapka fun ro-com by Simon Pulse very escapist
35. The Unwritten Rule by Elizabeth Scott--I had been anxious to read this book, and I enjoyed it. It was a quick and easy read, fun and a different take on things.
36. Art Geeks and Prom Queens by Alyson Noel I got this because I enjoyed Evermore (the immortals series, and I'm waiting for book two from the library) and it was okay. The story was okay, but I got put off by how wishy washy the main character was and the extent of drinking and drugs in the book--especially since the M.C. supposedly didn't do any of that stuff before she moved. It was too big of a change for me.
37. Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules-- very fun. Caleb loves this, and we are reading the next. He says will you read me Wimp? What about Wimp? The kids really enjoyed the movie as well. Although it was difficult to have a main character that is difficult to like the entire time.
38. Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins--totally fun story of a boarding school with paranormal elements. I kept thinking about this story, and I still am, so it's interesting.
39. The Nature of Jade by Deb Caletti--I've really enjoyed all of her books. The books are contemporary Young Adult books, most are set in the Seattle area, but they talk about real issues, and real concerns. They really make you think.
40. Perfect You by Elizabeth Scott--I enjoyed it. It made me think about things--all of her books do, but this one also had happiness in it, while some of her books don't.
Rereads (just to track how many books I really read)
3. Heist Society
4. Little Lady Agency
5. The Truth About Forever

Starting Books that I end up not liking
I figured out one of the reasons I am so far behind Mim and Sarah is that that I pick up books that are recommended by various book clubs etc. No I am not currently in a book club. The book turns out to be too graphic for my taste either sexual or violent. I do read classics and good books and last Dec. finsihed War and Peace which is a difficult book to read. Maybe I just need to read the classics but no I want to try all geners.
Also I think I am behind the schedule because the books I have read are more difficult then Mim and Sarah's; they are only currently reading Young Adult Fiction. I would like to challenge them both to read a classic and something like I just read which is "Three Cups of Tea". This book is about a man name Greg Mortensen who is currently building schools in The Middle East. It is an interesting and informant book. I do think Greg Mortensen is a little off but you just have to read the book to understand.
With all that said I am going to read a coupe of easy reads. Good luck Mim and Sarah and please post more.

Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
I just finished reading Catching Fire by Susan Collins. I know that her books are the talk of the young adult reading genre. I honestly thing they are depressing. Both books took me over 30 pages to to get into them. I know we all fear dystopia. It did hold my attention more than Hunger Games but I feel they are very depressing. Also she writes in first person which is the easiest way to write. I will read her last book but I honestly hope with another series she can do much better. Sorry Mim and Sarah/
